3 Italian Netflix Series to Learn Italian (Fun & Easy for Beginners)

Learning Italian isn’t always easy and one thing I don’t think people talk about enough is the struggle.

As someone living in Italy and learning the language myself, I’ve had ups and downs, and my journey definitely hasn’t been linear.

That’s why I’ve been trying to make learning more enjoyable and natural and one of the easiest ways I’ve found is through watching Netflix.

If you’re trying to learn Italian in a fun and natural way, watching Italian Netflix series can help improve your listening skills, vocabulary, and confidence even as a beginner.

3 Italian Netflix Series to Learn Italian (Fun & Easy for Beginners)

1. Suburra (Crime Drama – More Advanced)

The first series I recommend is Suburra.

This is a crime drama set in Rome, following different characters involved in politics and criminal activity. It’s intense, fast-paced, and very addictive.

I actually watched this with my boyfriend, and we alternated between English and Italian episodes so we could follow the storyline without missing anything.

For learning Italian:

  • There’s quite a lot of slang
  • The language can be fast
  • It’s better for intermediate learners

Rating:

  • Storyline: 4/5
  • Learning Italian: 3.5/5

2. Baby (Easy to Follow – Great for Learners)

Next is Baby, and this one is much easier to follow.

It’s a teen drama set in Rome, loosely based on a true story. It follows the lives of students at an elite high school and the challenges they face.

What I liked most about this series is:

  • The Italian is clearer
  • The pace is slower
  • It’s easier to understand

This makes it a great option if you’re still building confidence with listening.

Rating:

  • Storyline: 3.5/5
  • Learning Italian: 4/5

3. Summertime (Simple & Beginner-Friendly)

The last series is Summertime.

This is a lighter teen drama that follows a summer romance between two young people with very different lifestyles.

The storyline is simple, which actually makes it perfect for learning:

  • Easy vocabulary
  • Slower conversations
  • Less complex dialogue

It’s not the strongest storyline, but it’s great for passive learning.

Rating:

  • Storyline: 2.5/5
  • Learning Italian: 4/5
